A Short Bio

Hello there. My name is Cody Capella, and I like to make things. I’m nineteen years old and currently in my freshman year as an undergraduate student at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo pursuing a bachelors degree in computer science. I also intend to minor in photography and to hopefully study history or English, too. I’m a photographer, designer, and web developer who calls Northern California home. I’m an avid nordic skier, tennis player, and adventurer. I also seem to get a lot bolder when I have my camera in hand. Those I care about are really important to me, so family and friends are crucial. I also love to read and write, bike, and hike, and I am starting to learn to love running, too.

I firmly believe in living a life that I believe is worthwhile, if that makes any sense at all. I also believe in making meaningful connections with those around you and the value of hard work. I do some charity work and try to get out in the community pretty frequently too. When I’m not down at Cal Poly, I’m usually out adventuring or skiing. Or getting coffee.

About My Photography

Ever since taking my first photo class as a freshman in high school, it’s become one of my biggest passions. I love exploring new places with my camera and experimenting with new films and techniques (I shoot digital, too). Life’s an adventure, and I love that photography helps me capture it.

About My Design

Design’s kind of the bridge between the artsy photo side of myself and the more technical web and app development side. I really love working with digital illustration and both print design (like posters, business cards, and artwork) and digital design, like mockups and graphics.

About My Web Development

Web design and development was what got me interested in computers in the first place. I’d always been into art and making things and web design seemed like the logical next step. I strive for clean, simple and functional and am (ever still) working on turning what I see in my head into functioning code.

More on What I Do

Most of what I make is just for me, though I do try to take on as much client work as I can as well. Currently, I do design and web projects for clients, though I’m happy to discuss taking photographs at an event, for a business, or just doing portraits. If you would like to see some examples of my work, please see my portfolio at www.codycapella.com/portfolio.html.
